Horsemanship

Sharing The Journey

Welcome To My Blog

If the path is beautiful, let us not ask where it leads…..

Welcome, let me introduce myself, my name is Lorraine, a confirmed and dedicated horse lover and for more than forty five years, I have had the privilege of owning, riding and learning from directly one of nature’s greatest gifts the most amazing creature we call the horse.
Discovering this passion in my childhood, I have been lucky enough to carry it through to adult hood and from a hobby to Professional Status as a Horsemanship Coach. The journey has been one hell of a ride and certainly one that has pushed me to my limits many times in the quest for greater knowledge of these amazing creatures.
There is a saying “you don’t know, what you don’t know” and this journey of horsemanship has not only changed the way that I look at horses but it has had a major impact on how I live my life.
I know that there is still so much more to learn by the questions that I keep asking myself……

How can I help others?

What more can I do

And how do I truly honor my horse…

A New Way Of Thinking

I was introduced to “Natural Horsemanship in the 1990’s when it was still very new to Australia through a friend, I discovered that there was a new movement to promote a more comprehensive way of understanding horses. At my first Horsemanship Clinic, I learnt more about horses in the first forty five minutes than I had in all the time that I had been around horses, at that time it was about twenty years. I could not stop thinking about why this information was not common knowledge. It did not take me long to commit myself to learning everything that I could about Natural Horsemanship and I commenced my journey of discovery.

Why Horsemanship

Horsemanship is more than just owning a horse, it is a lifestyle, a commitment to be the best you can be for your horse, it is an understanding of what your horse truly needs and not what we think as humans that they need. It is the study of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of your horse and how to help them live comfortable in our human environments. Horses are herd animals, their instincts are million of years old and as horse owners, it is our responsibility to help them develop ways to live more comfortably, communicate more effectively and to teach us about ourselves.
